Honoring Veteran's Day

Coal Creek Elementary resides in the quaint town of Louisville, Colorado, which is just southeast of greater Boulder.

As part of the Boulder Valley School District, Coal Creek School has an impressive history of academic excellence in educating children and youth in our community for over three decades.  We have been recognized as a "John Irwin School of Excellence" numerous times, an achievement that is only awarded to the top schools in our state.

Our faculty is dedicated to working with parents and school leadership to ensure the development of the whole child; academically, physically, and socially.  Our curriculum and instructional program is based on work of Dr. Arthur Costa's Habits of Mind framework, which helps students to grow in their problem solving skills and experience increased success in school and peer relationships.

Coal Creek Elementary maintains a proud tradition in Louisville as a “neighborhood school,” serving approximately 400 students, K-5. Rated by the Colorado Department of Education as “exceeding” academic achievement expectations in all areas examined by the state, Coal Creek teachers teach the BVSD curriculum based on a child-centered, holistic approach to education. Students receive daily experiences in general and instrumental music, physical education, library/ technology and art. The school is dedicated to strengthening students’ problem-solving skills by integrating the “Habits of Mind” model, based on the work of Dr. Arthur Costa. Extracurricular activities include Destination Imagination, Battle of the Books, Choir, Morning Movers, and Art Club. Through BVSD Lifelong Learning, a variety of classes are offered such as Spanish, Lego, Running Club, Cooking and MANY other classes. After-school care is offered. Hallmarks of the school include a low mobility rate and high parental involvement.
