Principal's Message
Hello Coal Creek Community,
I am incredibly honored to be the principal and know that each and every child will learn and grow during their time at our school. Coal Creek is an amazing neighborhood school and a place where students feel safe, cared for and flourish socially and academically.
Our Positive Behavior Intervention Supports (PBIS) program, “Coal Creek ROCKS!” plays a significant role in creating an environment where students are taught and recognized for their outstanding behavior. ROCKS! stands for: R(respect) O(owning it – responsibility) C(cooperation) K(kindness) S(safety).
It is important to me that as a school community we ensure that all children have a strong sense of belonging and have what they need to grow as they move through these foundational years. We want our students to be well rounded and engage in challenging and collaborative learning experiences.
Educating the whole child is of strong importance, which will allow all students to find an area of passion. Students will receive an academic experience that includes: general and instrumental music, physical education, art and library/technology. In addition to the outstanding general education classroom experience all students receive, we offer programming that will meet the needs of advanced learners and struggling learners. This includes Gifted and Talented, Special Education and our RISE Program (Reaching Independence through Structured Environments). This program is designed for students with autism who have academics at or above grade level, with a focus on accessing general education and behavior support.
Please reach out to me at any time with questions, concerns or compliments.
Sincerely,
Jeff VanIwarden
Principal
